Moro Rock is one of the most popular hikes in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park. Tourists flock here to enjoy a unique hike up this granite dome following a trail that includes 400 stairs to climb 300 feet to the summit in about a third of a mile. The panoramic view from the top is spectacular.
Our family made the hike up Moro Rock during a long National Park road trip and really enjoyed it. Since it was summer, we had to take a shuttle bus to the trailhead. Then we high-tailed it out ahead of the rest of the pack of tourists. The historic trail has great views and some exposure, but there are plenty of guard rails making this a safe hike. The trail in neat as it winds its way in and out of various slots and gaps in the granite along the way.
We hung out on the summit for a while snapping photos and enjoying the views. On the way back down we passed a lot of other folks making their way up. Several folks were asking the proverbial “how much further” question as we passed them. Good times, and well worth the visit.
