Grasshopper Butte is an obscure unofficially named mountain located in the Boulder Mountains of central Idaho. It is found in the southeast corner of the range, near the North Fork Big Lost River. Nothing particularly noteworthy about this mountain, except it has easy access and great views.

I stopped off for a quick hike up Grasshopper Butte, while on my way to bigger adventures. Here's a view looking up the slopes early on.

Once up and out of the trees, I found I was a little off route. There's my objective over to the northeast.

Nearing the summit block. She's a butte.

Outcroppings along the summit ridge.

Time to head back down. Wish I¡¯d worn long pants to protect my legs from the low sagebrush.

Map of my route. Just over 2 miles and 1200' elevation gain round trip, in 80 minutes of hiking.
