Polecamp Peak
Elevation 8057'
Polecamp Peak is an obscure unofficially named mountain located in the Salmon River Mountains of central Idaho. Polecamp Creek flows into the Yankee Fork between Sunbeam and Bonanza, and the forested peak is located just north of the creek. It’s a steep but straightforward climb.

After hiking up the French Peaks earlier in the day, I still had some daylight left, and decided to try Polecamp. No warmup on this hike, with steep slopes from the start.

I'd gained 1900' in just over a mile, so the gentler terrain near the summit was a welcome sight.

Here's the summit of Polecamp Peak. Unfortunately, not much in the way of views, but still a good spot for a snack break.

Descending back down to the Yankee Fork.

Map of my route. Just over 2 miles and 1900' elevation gain round trip, in just over 2 hours of hiking. Short and steep!
