Mount Tabor is located within the city of Portland Oregon. Its actually an dormant “volcanic vent”, and is part of a popular city park, Mount Tabor Park. The area is home to plenty of trails and other recreational activities. Several different routes and approaches give access to the highpoint, including a loop hike of over 2 miles.

I was in Portland on a quick work trip, and chose Mount Tabor as a quick hike. I parked at the visitor center, and was thankful for a break in the rain.

My goal was a sporting hike of at least 2 miles. I ended up on a street that circled the east side of the park. That wasn't my original plan, but it did allow my to enjoy this scenic section of trail that climbed up the south side of Mount Tabor.

The broad highpoint of Mount Tabor was pleasant, but didn’t offer much in the way of views.

From the summit, I descended a steep trail to the west, and then circled around this reservoir to the west.

After enjoying some views of downtown Portland, I made my way a back up a paved street that lead me back to where I’d parked.
