Dollar Mountains is located near Ketchum Idaho, and is on the edge of the Pioneer Mountains. It is part of the Sun Valley Resort, and is a small ski hill that is great for beginners. In the summer, it is possible to make a short mostly road hike, to the summit, which is home to great views of the surrounding area.

During a getaway weekend with my wife, I got up early for a quick hike while she was sleeping. The crux of the hike was figuring out where to park. After some trial and error, I parked by some condos in Elkhorn Village, and had to skirt through a lawn or two, before hiking up the hill under a ski lift. Here's a low light view looking back on the approach.

Once up the side of the mountain, the road continued along the ridge.

First view of the summit, complete with a large radio tower. There was a short section of single track trail that was more enjoyable than the road.

Map of my route. Just under 3 miles and 750' elevation gain round trip, in 1 hour of hiking. And I even got back before my wife woke up.
