Little Regret Peak is lesser known 11er mountain located in eastern Idaho’s Lost River Range. It is found just north of its more well known neighbor, No Regret Peak. The peak isn't particularly distinctive, but it does offer great views of the surrounding terrain, and the East Fork Pahsimeroi River drainage in particular. The peak's most noteworthy feature is a large limestone arch, on the summit ridge not far from the highpoint.

George and John invited me to join them for a few days of base camping on the East Fork Pahsimeroi River. On day 2, I headed out for a solo climb of Little Regret Peak. Here's a shot of the peak as I depart camp in the morning.

After following some game trails, and then a fair bit of side-hilling, terrain started opening up as I rounded the southwest side of the peak.

Dramatic cliffs define the south side of the valley south of the peak.

Looking up at Little Regret Peak, the summit arch comes into view. Guarded by plenty of talus.

Did I mention talus? No way around it as far as I could tell.

But after an hour or so of talus grinding, I made it to the summit.

The summit view looking east includes Cleft Peak and Triple Peak.

Mount Breitenbach and No Regret Peak are south of Little Regret.

I wandered out to the north end of the ridge to get a view of the East Fork Pahsimeroi. I could just make out our campsite below.

The view southwest includes Mount Church, Badrock Peak, and Leatherman Peak.

Next I went to get a closer look at the arch, not far south of the summit. It was pretty well guarded by cliffs, to I wasn't able to pass through it.

After a quick descent on loose rock, I was back to the valley floor, for some slow going through the rocks.

On the way back, I stopped for a shady snack break. A peaceful scene by the creek. The water was exceptionally clear.

Map of my route. A total of 8 miles and 3200' elevation gain round trip, in about 6 hours of hiking.
