Spencer Mountain
Elevation 1250'
Spencer Mountain is located in the Piedmont Mountains of North Carolina, about 20 miles west of Charlotte. Access is tricky, but I read about this route that appears to be allowable. I was visiting the area for a work trip, and had a narrow time window for a hike. This one ended up working out just right.

The hike starts by circling around the soccer fields and dog park at George Poston Park.

Then briefly up the power line gap.
|
|
|
Hang a left on this road.
|
|
|
Then watch for a faint trail heading up through the trees.
|
|
|
The summit is adorned with an old TV tower.
|
|
|
Map of my route. Round trip was about 2 miles and 500' of elevation gain. The hike took just under an hour.
