Kings Pinnacle
Elevation 1690'
Kings Pinnacle is located in the Piedmont Mountains of North Carolina, about 30 miles west of Charlotte. It is found within Crowder's Mountain State Park, and well worth the visit if you are looking for a good hike in a nice natural area. It also happens to be the highest point in Gaston County.

I was in the area for work, and was able to sneak away for a hike up Kings Pinnacle. Here's a historical sign near the visitor's center.

The trail starts off flat, making its way through the shady forest.
|
|
|
Soon enough The Pinnacle Trail starts gaining elevation.
|
|
|
Near the summit, there's a rock staircase.
|
|
|
And a brief scramble section.
|
|
|
The summit even offers up a few views.
|
|
|
Map of my route. Round trip was about 4 miles and 800' of elevation gain. The hike took about 90 minutes. Very enjoyable.
